In a normal plant parenting world, we deposit seeds and soil into a pot (like one of these!), give it water and sunlight, and watch as the seedlings sprout into full-grown greens. But what if plants grew on the outside of the pot? And suddenly all that soil (and fertilizer!) wasn't necessary?
is a new planting pot prototype that aims to transform the way we grow our greens. Currently a project on , this inside-out planter has over 17,000 supporters and has raised close to $2 million (its original goal was $20,000). But what’s so special about it? Well, it allows plants to grow organically. If you've ever seen moss growing on a rock or tree, or vines growing from the exterior of a stone house, you've witnessed plants naturally thriving in their ecosystem. The Terraplanter mimics that natural growth experience and allows you to watch it in your own home.
With Terraplanter, plants grow along the pot's all-natural and porous exterior. The pot is hydroponic, which means no soil or dirt is necessary. It works like this: seeds go on the outside of pot (they can fit into the grooves), and water goes directly inside the pot. Then, as the days go by, the seeds will soak up the water through the exterior of the pot. As the roots begin to develop, the Terraplanter's texture and shape allow will allow them to easily grip the pot's surface and grow around it.

Also, this planter allows us the opportunity to watch the whole seedling to plant journey, which is typically hidden under the soil. Right now, , but act quick, because inventory is running low. As the project has greatly surpassed its fundraising goal, we'll probably start to see the Terraplanter sprouting up in stores or online soon enough. We'll keep you updated.
